King George’s Hall 18th-22nd June 2019
To give children and families from all cultures, backgrounds and abilities an equal opportunity to attending Blackburn Children’s Reading/Literature Festival. We would like to make this an annual event on Blackburn’s calendar.
We want to encourage children’s imaginations through a love of books and words that can help make a huge contribution to their future.
‘Reading is education, feeding our imagination in the most pleasurable way.’
The Blackburn Children’s Reading Festival is very much a community event presented in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council , Community CVS Blackburn and Christina Gabbitas. We are very grateful to all our volunteers, the festival would not be possible without them! If you’d like to get involved see more information here
In 2017 Children’s Reading Festivals held their first festival in Selby Abbey, headed by Blackburn born Christina Gabbitas, engaging over 3,500 children and families. It is our intention to host more festivals throughout England in areas that have never held a children’s literature festival. We like to utilise iconic or local buildings that mean something to the community.
All schools within the Blackburn and Darwen area will receive an invite to the FREE families and communities day.
Special thanks to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council
